Die letzten Tage der Menschheit
Unique artistic symbiosis: Ensemble Pro Brass, Karl Markovics and Werner Pirchner unite in Karl Kraus' "The Last Days of Mankind". Under the musical guidance of Werner Pirchner, one of the most important Austrian composers of the 20th century, the Ensemble Pro Brass together with the renowned actor Karl Markovics invites you on a journey through the profound prophetic texts of Karl Kraus. Pro Brass has been deeply connected to Werner Pirchner's music since its foundation more than 40 years ago, as he wrote his FIREWATERMUSIC especially for this ensemble. Pro Brass was allowed to orchestrate and arrange other pieces from Pirchner's pen with the permission of the edition itself. The ensemble has found a congenial literary counterpart in Karl Kraus' great powers of observation, his humorous touch and his merciless social criticism, all characterised by Pirchner's ludicrous, whimsical and yet serious music of wonder. Both Pirchner and Kraus manage to make you "laugh out loud" at times, they were both "travellers between worlds" and with their artistic work they put their fingers in the wounds of the times and their society. On this concert evening, PRO BRASS and Karl Markovisc will perform excerpts and miniatures from Kraus' monster work. The audience can look forward to the fusion of Kraus' brilliant texts, Markovics' haunting acting presence and Pirchner's musical genius. Markovics will bring Kraus' powerful words to life, while PRO BRASS will contribute its usual musical precision, passion and humour, creating a dynamic and multi-layered soundscape and thus underlining the atmospheric density of Kraus' socially critical work. An evening full of intensity that will resonate and inspire reflection on the depths of human existence and its abysses.
